Educating Leaders to Transform the World

For more than a century, Notre Dame of Maryland University's approach to education has prepared thousands of high performers and instigators of social change. We're consistently responsive to the needs of a student body hungry to learn, and a world hungry for knowledgeable, compassionate leaders.

NDMU embodies the pioneering educational tradition and social justice mission that spurred the College of Notre Dame to welcome the first class of women pursuing a four-year baccalaureate degree in 1895.

We offer Maryland's only women's college, as well as certificate, undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs for women and men. Our transformative educational model will help prepare you for leadership and success.

University Mission

Embracing the vision of the founders, the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the University promotes the advancement of women and provides a liberal arts education in the Catholic tradition.

Notre Dame challenges women and men to:

  • strive for intellectual and professional excellence,
  • build inclusive communities,
  • engage in service to others, and
  • promote social responsibility.
