Explores the historical struggles female journalists have encountered while trying to cover wars. The course will focus on the role of female journalists in WWII, Vietnam, and modern wars/conflict zones. The patriarchal culture of the newsroom will be examined as one of the factors women had to overcome to be allowed to report on the front lines. In addition, the course will discuss the physical dangers associated with war coverage, as well as the unique dangers female reporters face based on their gender. The course willinclude a field trip.
