Co-taught interdisciplinary Morrissy Honors course. Examines major works of ancient Greek drama and their reception in the 20th and 21st centuries, including post-revolutionary Cuban tragedy, American feminist and black classicism, and the contemporary Theatre of War project. Examines the treatment of ancient themes and characters by modern playwrights. Analyzes the relationship between context of authors and first audiences and the texts produced. Compares and contrasts works across historical periods and cultures. Prerequisite: Morrissy Honors student.[ 3 credits ]
