Examines the photographic practices of women-identifying artists from 1839 to the present. Emphasis is placed upon reading the image as a site where the issues of gender, class, and race intersect. A variety of methodologies are examined, such as stylistic analysis, iconographical interpretations, revisionist art historical trends, and primary and secondary source material and their validity. Connections between historical movements and contemporary practices are highlighted. Prerequisite: For Traditional undergraduate students only.
