In CIA-VIII, students continue with Journal Club activities, critically appraising the medical literature and applying evidence related to risk factors, determinants of health, prevention, management, and therapeutic considerations for acute and chronic conditions related to advanced topics in pediatrics, obstetrics, dermatology, minor surgery, and IV therapeutics. Critical thinking, clinical reasoning, skillful communication, effective teamwork, and demonstrating cultural awareness and research literacy are emphasized. Students incorporate relevant clinical cases to enrich the learning experience and begin applying concepts of outcomes assessment to real-world examples. [ 3 credits ]
