In this course students will learn the physiological theory supporting the practice of competent, safe and effective herbal medicine within the context of a wellness model. Students will become familiar with foundational physiological processes, such as communication pathways and mechanisms of protection and defense. They will also explore the physiology underlying the body's rhythms and the impact of factors such as exercise, emotion, diet and social interaction on health. [1.5 credits]
