Explores concepts of human flourishing and social-emotional learning (SEL) as a framework for understanding personal well-being, meaning, and ethical engagement in a complex world. Drawing on the framework from the Human Flourishing Project at Harvard Universit and the CASEL Social Emotional Learning framework, students examine how emotional health, relationships, character, purpose, and civic responsibility contribute to a flourishing life. Through reflection, discussion, and applied activities, students investigate how individuals develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, resilience, and purpose across educational, professional, and community contexts. The course emphasizes practical strategies for cultivating well-being and meaning in one's own life while considering how social structures, institutions, and relationships can support or hinder human flourishing. This course meets the general education requirement of Well Being. [ 1 credit ]
