This course reviews pathophysiology and epidemiology of type 2 diabetes, including techniques for assessment, treatment and prevention. Practitioners will learn to identify risk factors of pre-diabetes and initiate preventative counseling in nutrition, as well as provide community education. Meal planning, health behavior change, monitoring, and other management tools will be explored. Prerequisites: ISCI-547A and one of the following: NUTR-613 or NUTR-614. [ 1 credit ]
