Daily we are exposed to environmental chemicals, metals, and electromagnetic fields that can disrupt health. This course looks at the underlying physiology of detoxification and biotransformation; it explores how to recognize environmental issues and best practices for assessing their contribution to illness, and the role of food, nutrients, nutraceuticals, and the role of lifestyle in the detoxification process. Discussion will also focus on scope of practice and the role the nutritionist plays in addressing environmental toxicity. [ 3 credits ]
