Evidenced based research is growing in the relatively new fields of epigenetics and nutritional genomics and their role in gene expression. This course provides an introduction to these fields including proteomics, DNA and protein methylation, acetylation, and current research and application of nutritional genomic principles. Exploration will examine the interaction between environmental factors and the epigenome. Specifics will include the validity and application of genomic testing, and the role of diet, herbs, spices, and lifestyle in epigenetic and nutritional genomics. Prerequisite: NUTR-801. [ 3 credits ]
