PHRD-641: Clinical Reasoning and Application

Clinical Reasoning and Application is an introduction to the concepts, mindsets, and skills that govern how to think critically as a clinician. This course is intended for students who have an interest in building their ability to think more clearly about clinical decisions they make and the contect in which they make them. The course is broken into three parts: Part 1 focuses on the basics of metacognition (thinking about thinking), biases, and critical thinking; Part 2 expands on these principles through a stepwise process of pattern recognition and applying critical thinking to clinical decisions; Part 3 consists entirely of clinical cases and applying the previous ideas and priciples of critical and clinical thinking to the process of holistic patient care. Through participating in assignments, in-class activities, and discussions, the students will build and improve on clinical thinking, reasoning, and application for pharmacotherapeutic care. Prerequisite: P2 standing.
